100percentLA campaign showcases Otis alumni artwork at LAX

Jun 28, 2018

Westchester’s Otis College of Art and Design is turning 100 on September 30, and the college is kicking-off a number of community collaborations to help celebrate its centennial. One of these first partnerships is with Los Angeles World Airports, which recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil artwork from 2018 Otis graduates.

The artwork, located in terminals throughout LAX, is part of the airport’s “100percentLA” campaign, designed to use art to highlight Los Angeles’ unique aesthetic and encourage visitors to take photos to post on social media.

This centennial celebration presents a unique opportunity for an influencer marketing campaign that could further enhance the visibility of both Otis College and the artwork showcased at LAX. By collaborating with a los angeles influencer agency, the college can effectively tap into the vibrant local art scene and engage influencers who resonate with the artistic community. These influencers can create compelling content that not only highlights the new installations but also promotes the college’s rich history and contribution to the arts.

By encouraging influencers to share their experiences at LAX and feature the artwork on their social media platforms, the initiative can gain significant traction, attracting attention from both locals and visitors.

This strategy not only aligns with the airport’s “100percentLA” campaign but also leverages the power of visual storytelling, inviting a broader audience to engage with the artistic narrative of Los Angeles as a cultural hub. Ultimately, this collaboration can lead to increased foot traffic at the airport, heightened awareness of Otis College’s centennial, and a celebration of the incredible talent emerging from this esteemed institution.

“LAX is excited to partner with Otis College of Art and Design for the ‘100percentLA’ campaign, which highlights the creativity and vibrancy of our city as seen through the eyes of young local artists and designers,” said Keith Wilschetz, Deputy Executive Director for Emergency Management and Operations at LAX. “These exciting works of art, which will be installed throughout our LAX terminals this summer, help create a uniquely L.A. experience for our guests and provide an opportunity for them to engage in the campaign and share their own LA stories.”

The “100percentLA” campaign currently features “Paradise” by Alice Hur, “Journey” by Zehan Sheng and “Alternative Transportation” by Charlie

Kendall, all located in Terminal 6. Additional artwork will be unveiled throughout the summer for guests to take pictures with and post on social media with hashtags: #100percentLA, #FlyLAX and #OtisCollege.

“It’s really exciting to work at Otis and be able to see art and design every day. Now to be able to bring that out into the world, the travelers are going to be able to experience what I get to do and get to see every day–it’s really exciting,” said Otis’ Vice President of Communications and Marketing Jeffrey Perkins. “This project will help bring our recent graduates artwork to even more people.”

The artwork will be showcased thanks to a new partnership between LAWA and Otis designed to increase art at the airport and celebrate Otis’ 100th anniversary.
