Join Loyola Marymount University Professor Glenn Gebhard for a screening of his new documentary "Red Storm Rising: The Struggle for the American Communist Party" on Monday, March 17, 2025 on LMU’s Westchester campus. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with James Ryan, author of “Earl Browder: The Failure of American Communism;” Ed Johanningsmeier, author of “Forging American Communism: The Life of William Z Foster;” Alexander Diones, LMU instructor of political science; and Gebhard, professor and chair of production in LMU School of Film and Television. The hour-long film explores a unique period in American politics, and how inner squabbling between important figures in a political movement can affect its influence and ultimate success. LMU President Timothy Law Snyder, Ph.D., produced the film’s music. Co-sponsored by LMU Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts’ political science department, the event is free and open to the public.
