50th Annual Gillis

Toes Beach Culver Blvd at Trolley Way, Playa del Rey

Playa del Rey's epic beach bash and volleyball tournament, The Gillis, comes to end this summer after 50 years, so there's one last chance to partake in the festivities. The tournament takes place at Toes Beach, but with limited beach parking, be prepared to take an Uber or Lyft. After the event, head to one of Culver Blvd.'s restaurant to recap the day and support local businesses. Read our July featured article on The Gillis HERE.

Feline Frenzy Adoption Event

Annenberg PetSpace 12005 Bluff Creek Dr., Playa Vista

Join Annenberg PetSpace for a pet adoption event focusing on cats! Their goal is to find homes for 50 kittens, and the more adoptions they have, the more space to save even more felines! Even if you're not ready to adopt, visit the Playa Vista space to learn about their kitten foster program, enjoy kitten-themed crafts and peruse vendors selling cat care essentials.

Shakespeare on the Bluff at LMU

Loyola Marymount University 1 LMU Drive, Westchester

LMU’s fifth annual Shakespeare on the Bluff festival is back in person this year! Head to the university’s new Drollinger Family Stage at Lawton Plaza for performances of “Julius Caesar” on Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25. Next month, visit the campus for performances of “The Tempest” on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23. The performances are presented by the LMU College of Communication and Fine Arts. Marina Movie Nights Clueless

The Department of Beaches and Harbors has a great summer schedule of movies planned! On Saturdays, pack your picnic baskets and jackets and head to the Burton Chace Park (13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey) for Marina Movie Nights!
