The Westchester Del Rey Little League’s (WDRLL) Major Softball All Stars are celebrating a whirlwind summer that included winning the Southern California Little League State Championship and the West Regional tournament, earning them a coveted spot to represent the “West” in the Little League Softball World Series!
The team, which is made up of 11 players, ages 11-13, some of whom have played together for years, headed to Greenville, North Carolina at the beginning of August to battle it out against the best of the best for a chance at the title. While playing with grit, dedication, incredible talent, and teamwork, the team ultimately lost games to the Northwest and Mid-Atlantic Region, ending their World Series run.
Making it to the most prestigious youth softball game in the world is a historic moment for the league, players, families, and community, says WDRLL President, Jim Evans, who accompanied the team to Greenville to cheer them on.
“We are incredibly proud of the players, coaches, parents, and fans who represented Westchester Del Rey Little League at the 2025 Little League Softball World Series. Competing on this national stage—for only the second time in our league’s 51-year history—is an extraordinary achievement,” said Jim. “Our team played with heart, resilience and true sportsmanship, and their dedication has inspired our entire community. As president, I’m already looking forward to the day we return.”
While WDRLL families, board members and league supporters were in the South for the games, back in Westchester, the community rallied to support the team with watch parties at Tower Pizza and fundraisers, to support the cost of the once-in-a-lifetime trip.
