Westchester Elks Lodge Car Show

Westchester Elks Lodge 8025 Manchester Ave., Playa del Rey, CA

Visit the Elks Lodge for their 22nd Annual Car Show & Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, September 10. Check out dozens of classic cars and chat with their owners, before making your way to the cook-off tents where you can sample chili from a variety of neighborhood chefs. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite to see who will take home the 2022 People’s Choice Award! Proceeds support the Elks’ charitable causes. The event is free to attend, with food and raffle tickets available for purchase. The Elks Lodge is located at 8025 Manchester Ave. in Playa del Rey. Ballona Community Restoration Event

Ballona Wetlands

The Bay Foundation's ​Ballona Wetlands Community Restoration Project focuses on removing invasive iceplant and other non-native vegetation that can impact native California plants such as pickleweed, salt grass, and alkali weed. Participants will help to remove non-native plants by hand. Capping at 50 participants. Vaccination strongly encouraged. Please plan to wear a mask if unvaccinated. Social distancing will be required. Registration is required.

HŌMTOWN Yoga Open House Event

Join HŌMTOWN Yoga on Saturday, September 17th to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary with food, music, and community. There will be prizes and giveaways, too! Enjoy Vinyasa Flow yoga and mindful eating classes in the morning, and throughout the afternoon, learn about anti-inflammatory nutrition and taste raw food smoothies and cookies. Guests can receive a free posture analysis, learn about tuning fork sounds and benefits, yoga for stress & anxiety, breathing techniques for relaxation & focus, and then top it off with a 30 minute Sound Bath. Stop in just to say hi or stay the entire day. Sharsheret West Coast Dash

Kentwood Players presents “Night Watch” at the Westchester Playhouse!

Kentwood Players presents NIGHT WATCH, a noir thriller by Lucille Fletcher, opening Friday, September 23 through Saturday, October 8, 2022 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Performances are held at the Westchester Playhouse, located at 8301 Hindry Avenue in Westchester. NIGHT WATCH is an ingeniously devised thriller which builds steadily in suspense until the final, breath-stopping moment. The mystery begins with Elaine Wheeler pacing her living room, suffering from insomnia and unsettling memories. In a building opposite her home, Elaine observes a corpse appear, and then another shortly after. However, when police detectives are called in to investigate, they find no evidence nor discover any bodies. And although Elaine insists that she saw what she saw, continuous suspicions arise as she begins to drive herself and everyone around her to their emotional limits. Will plans be made for Elaine to be sent to a sanitarium in Switzerland? Or will a supposed killer strike again? Who knows... perhaps even Elaine's life is in deadly danger?

Westchester Arts & Music Block Party

Celebrate the end of summer with one of the community’s most popular events, the Westchester Arts & Music Block Party (WAM)! This free, day-long event is a neighborhood tradition and can’t miss party, so make sure to mark your calendars! Attendees can expect fabulous live music in a variety of genres, local artisans, vendors, community booths and a wine/beer garden hosted by the Stephanie Younger Group. There will also be plenty of food trucks and activities for the whole family. This year, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Westchester Family YMCA.
